Lisa Hooton ~ teacher of the Alexander Technique

What happens in a session?

It is one-to-one, gentle and non-intrusive.  Loose comfortable clothing is best.  I work with my hands using gentle touch and explanation to guide you through simple movements like sitting, standing, walking and bending.  It is not about trying hard or getting it right, in fact quite the opposite!

The emphasis is never on an end result rather on the establishment of a beneficial process which we can continue to use and perfect throughout life.

It is not a treatment but a way of learning something.   It has therapeutic benefits but is ultimately a self-help method.  Alexander called it ‘ a technique for living’.
